LAFD Spark of Love Rolls In At Beckford!

What a great way to start off a Winter Holiday Break -- two great activities for Beckford students to participate and share with their families, and with children they may never meet.

First off, we started out for school dressed in our pajamas! That's right... we left the house in our pajamas! It was PAJAMARAMA Day and teachers, students, staff members, parents and even Beckford Principal, Mrs. Friedrich, came to school dressed in our pajamas in anticipation of our awesome Pajamarama nighttime family event. We'll try to get some pics of Pajamarama on the blog, but there are some posted at the Beckford website.

Next, our friends from LAFD made a special trip onto our playground with an awesome firetruck and a retro ambulance to collect toys for their Spark of Love toy drive.

After the morning bell, classrooms assembled on the playground as Mrs. Friedrich welcomed our firefighter guests and PTA President Robert Cohn gave a short history of Spark of Love and explained where the toys would be going and why it was important to remember those who are especially needy this holiday season, and all year long.

Next, Mrs. Friedrich called children up class by class, and students dropped off their donations inside bags held by firefighters. We not only filled all the collection bags with toys, but filled an entire ambulance! Way to go Beckford! And thanks again to our friends at LAFD for all they do for us every day.
