Still Making Lemonade...

The latest from the Lemonade Ladies:

Have no doubt the Lemonade Rally is ON for Friday, 10am at Balboa Park Soccer Fields. Our rally was never about the UTLA walkout anyway, it is about giving parents a voice in their children’s education.

So onward to Friday with these tips for the rally:

Bring Sunscreen! For those of you who have not had the “pleasure” of being at Balboa Park Soccer Fields -- there is no shade. We mean, no shade. Feel free to bring umbrellas, sun tents, beach chairs or whatever it will take to make this a comfortable experience for you.

Also, because we will be walking up to LAUSD District 1 offices (a short walk), please do wear walking shoes.

As a good Girl Scout Leader, I wanted to make sure you were all well prepared.

Finally we want to remind everyone to bring homemade signs of two varieties:

1. To show support for your individual school (so the press knows where you are from)

2. Rally Slogans - we’ve supplied some ideas below, but please feel free to come with your own.

PARENTS ARE THE 4th ESTATE

PUT THE KIDS FIRST

ACCOUNTABILITY NOW

REDUCE, REFORM, REBUILD

YES PARENTS CAN!

fill in with your own acronym next to each letter.

L
A
U
S
D

U
T
L
A

Also please note that through diligent google-ing, we found out that using a yardstick as a handle for your signs is your best bet because they are cheap, strong and thin. Use a staple gun to attach one sheet of poster board to each side of the yardstick.

Who says we aren’t practical.

We look forward to meeting you all this Friday! Again, many thanks for your support. As you know, in this type of effort it really takes a village. Thanks for being our village.
