Last month (can you believe how time flies?!), you sent in thousands of letters to your CA Senators and the Senate Labor Committee members asking them to vote YES on Paid Sick days. Guess what? It worked!!! The Senate Labor Committee passed the Paid Sick Days bill. Now the bill is on to the next step: The Senate Appropriations Committee.
About the CA Paid Sick Days bill:
Almost 6 million workers in California do not have a single paid sick day. AB 2716 would allow a worker to use paid sick time for up to 40 hours or five days in each calendar year for workers at small businesses (10 employees or fewer), and 72 hours or nine days per calendar year for all other workers. They will earn that time at a rate of one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked. This legislation also covers victims of domestic violence who could use paid sick days to care for their physical, psychological, and legal needs.
We need your help to make sure the Appropriations Committee also votes YES, and then sends the bill to the Senate Floor for a vote by the full Senate. Please send your letter today because we're only a few steps from passing Paid Sick Days legislation in California and your voice makes a difference!
Tell the Appropriations Committee to vote YES on the Paid Sick Days bill today!
When you click the link above, you'll send a message to all the members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, as well as your Senator, which shows them the tremendous support for this bill. The fight in the Senate won't be easy, and the Appropriations Committee meets soon, so every message counts!
The bottom line is that Californians should have the right to recover from illness without endangering public health, and the right to participate in their children's healthcare, helping them recover more rapidly from illness or injuries.
Don't forget to tell the Senate Appropriations Committee to vote YES on Paid Sick Days today!
